Please Still Invite Me To Your Dinner Parties

Hi everyone!

I’ve been BUSY rewriting/editing TSL (Yay! It’s going so well) and trying to keep you all updated on the whole process via my Instagram (@lindseywritesbooks). Keeping up with my relationship to social media has been difficult at times, as I’ve been very blunt about how much I struggle with my internal conflict of wanting to live life offline VS the never-ending feeling that I have to utilize social media for my writing career. Don’t get me wrong, it’s is an amazing tool for many of us artists (me included - (seriously it helps connect to the reader so much)), but media can be exhausting by the sheer enormity of it in our everyday culture. We’ve all been there. And when it starts to exhaust me, I usually start writing about it. (Which I think is how An Eye For Yours was born in the first place actually. Couldn’t tell when you met Isa?)

Here’s a fun satire I wrote today about social media. My darkest comedy comes out to play for certain table topics. By the way, I promise I’m a fun dinner party guest and like my photo being made.

For now, I’m calling it: Please Still Invite Me To Your Dinner Parties

Hunting has always been the sport of man
Spears, arrows, guns, and cellphones

On a block of cemented Suburbia
Archers post out of their windows, trying a new angle
That's really all there is to life at the end
A trophy room on the Internet

Gut your kill with clean, aesthetic lines
Mount it beautifully next to all of the others
Never let them know that you already removed the viscera
That would mean there's blood on your hands

A kill-shot leaves lead in the heart
But you won't feel real pain
Because when the archers find your body down,
You will know you've left behind a unique wall of taxidermy
A beautiful life consumed by empty and dead things

They'll call it a legacy
And then they'll clear their cache

Haha okay, back to editing this behemoth of a manuscript. Love you all so much! Going to post a fun article soon with some updates. Until next time, friend.

PS: Don’t forget to clear your cache. :)
