Stepping Out With Faith
A reflection with Addie Ott on what God did with my first (adult) year following His lead.
My life was turned upside down in weeks last year - a relationship with Jesus, a new career path, and an engagement. Addie was a wink from God to me during this season that I was on the right path. He connected us, and I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. She was a sign that there was light nearby in all the chaos I found myself living in.
Addie is many things - an author, a clothing designer, a writer, and a conversationalist. She has a podcast called The Gentle and Lowly Co. And last week, she had me as a guest on her show and allowed me to share my testimony about the past year and everything that I’ve learned about God since. It was such an honor to speak with her and to now share our conversation and the magic of Addie Ott with all of you.
The Gentle and Lowly Co. Podcast: Episode 76
As a mystery author, I sometimes think my voice about Jesus can’t translate to the audience I have. I write fiction for fiction readers. And I am not polished about it either. Thematically, my books likely would not ever find themselves inside a church. (*insert subtle laugh track here*) Lol.
Last night, I was rewatching The Chosen for a bible study group and heard this quote: “Everyone has a much larger job than just their trade.” That can be hard for me to wrap my head around. Yes, my trade includes making fictional characters disappear in fictional manors. But my job is also to tell you what the Lord has done in my life in the meantime. (And do not worry, many fictional characters are coming your way soon in all of their problematic mystique)
So, here we are! You can listen to the conversation on Spotify & Apple Podcasts, or watch on YouTube.
A big thanks to Addie for having me and to you, as always, for reading, supporting, and being the biggest blessing. Love yall!
