Gregory: Dystopian Fiction for Vocal Media
When the governor's daughter wakes up hostage aboard a moving freight train, it's up to her to uncover the sinister secrets that lie inside...and out.
Gregory is a 5000-word dystopian fiction short that I wrote for Vocal Media under the following contest prompt: Write a story about someone who wakes up on a train. They have no ticket and no memory of how they got there. Oh, and one more thing: the train shows no signs of slowing down.
About Gregory:
"I didn't have to see her. I could feel her hovering above me perfumed in scents of wine. A year passed in those few seconds. No horoscope or Wheel of Fortune could get me out of this. There was only the lady in black."
Mila Gregory is the governor's daughter in a world where women’s rights continually vanish. When she wakes up hostage on a moving freight train, Mila’s forced to finally confront a once-avoided politicized world and unveil the sinister secret about her abduction. Gregory is a piece that juxtaposes current-world questions through a dystopian setting, personifying the only real authority we have lies in our individual circumspection.
